Vogelvlei Yacht Club’s Tour de Vlei will be held on 12-13 October 2024. Tour de Vlei is the only dinghy longhaul regatta in the Western Cape Sailing Calendar.

Schedule of Racing:

• Registration: Saturday 12 October 2024 from 09h30 to 11h30.
• Dates of racing:
  • Saturday 12 October 2024: Tour de Vlei. Skippers briefing at 11h30
  • Sunday 13 October 2024: Tour de Vlei, should wind and weather conditions are not conducive to holding the Tour de Vlei on Saturday 12 October 2024. If Tour de Vlei is sailed as intended on Saturday 12 October, then the club may run fun racing or Speed Trials (to be decided – weather dependent).
• The scheduled time of the warning signal for the Tour de Vlei on Saturday 12 October 2024, is 13h00
• The scheduled time for the warning signal of the Tour de Vlei sailed on Sunday 13 October, should it not be possible to sail it on Saturday 11 October, or any subsequent races on Sunday 14 October will be displayed on the regatta notice board. On Sunday 13 October, the skippers briefing will be at 09h00, with a start not before 09h30. There will be no warning signal for racing on Sunday 13 October after 12h00.

Payment and entry fees:

• Those sailors who entered and paid for the abandoned 2023 Tour de Vlei and who enter the 2024 Tour de Vlei, sailing in the same Fleet Category will be exempt from re-paying entry fees. There is a section of the entry form to indicate this.
• To qualify for a discount, emailed early bird entries to be received by 21h00 on Wednesday 9 October 2024 along with the related EFT Proof-of-payment.
• Entry Fees are as follows:
  • Juniors (single handed): (Early bird R 100): R120
  • Juniors (double handed): (Early bird R 150): R175
  • Senior Single-handed: (Early bird R 175): R200
  • Senior Double-handed: (Early bird R 200): R250
  • Keelboats & double-handed Multihulls: (Early bird R 200): R250
• Entry Fees to be paid by close of Registration; i.e on Saturday 12 October 2024 before the skippers briefing. Payments by EFT are to be completed by 21h00 on Thursday 10 October 2024, and Proof of payment forwarded to accounts@vyc.co.za.
• To be considered an entry in the event, a boat shall complete all registration requirements and pay all fees.
• Early Bird Junior single entries may convert to Double handed upon registration at the club by paying the difference.
• Overnight/camping fees are R75 per adult and R50 per child 12-19 years and are applicable to sailors and non sailors.
